[Idyllchat] Sicily

We will be traveling in Sicily for two weeks in early April with  
another couple. (not an untour) We plan to stay on the east coast in  
Giardini Naxos and San Giovanni La Punta. Has anyone had experience  
in that area? How far are we from Palermo? Would it be feasible to  
travel there for a day trip? Should we plan to rent a car or is  
public transportation available? Can you recommend any restaraunts or  
sights we should not miss? We are also wine lovers so any suggestions  
you may have there would be helpful, too.
