Vance and Barbara are staying at a home of one of two British military
historians living near the landing beaches that Untours has gotten to know
. Their hosts' friend , Nick Kennedy (who owns property listed on The
Right Vacation Rental <http://www.therightvacationrental.com/index.asp>--
Untours' "property-only" website). takes folks (families or groups) on a one
day or half-day tours of the battlefields that are really remarkable...not
cheap but very memorable
So if all this great advice is intriguing anyone, you can find some nice
properties in Normandy here at our site., including
Nicks<http://www.therightvacationrental.com/index.asp>
My best friends have a young son who is a WWII nut and they hired Nick for a
half a day last summer and said the ability to move through this landscape
(now healed of most battle scars) with someone who really knew the events
that took place at each junction and village there was an unforgettable
experience.
Both Nick (as well as Vance & Barbara's host Lt.Chilcott) are wonderful
sources of knowledge of this area. Both are transplanted Brits....having
sold up and move across the channel to Normandy, so there is no language
barrier.
If you would like to hire Nick for a tour (even if you don't rent his
wonderful place from us) you can send me an email and I will pass on his
contact information for tour guiding the batttlefields.
You can also contact him by going to his property page here,The Stone House
at Saonnet <The%20Stone%20House%20at%20Saonnet> and using our "Ask the Host
a question"
Normandy is a wonderful place..the cider, and orchards, and windswept
beaches and unique culture.....it is like France with a brisk dash of
Britain sprinkled on top....a very tempting mix!
