Bill,

Since I have Medicare and BC/BS as a suppliment, I can't help you with med insurance.

But each year I subscribe to IAMAT (International Association for Medical Assistance to Travelers). There's no fee, but they request a donation - I send $10. They list English-speaking physicians in every country and agree to a set price for office visits - last year: $80. Last year's book listed the contact for Sweden in Lindingo. Go to http://www.iamat.org

I also subscribe each year to AirMed. They don't pay med expenses, but if you need to be sent anywhere for more medical treatment than the local hospital can provide, they will airlift you to anywhere you specify. This includes the USA. It also covers a companion traveler. That alone can cost thousands in private or public airfare. Go to: airmed.com

Subject: [Idyllchat] Medical Insurance overseas

My nephew will be in Sweden for a month and a half this summer as part of a work exchange program with his company. He will be bringing his wife and two boys with him. The trip will be paid by his company. He has traveled overseas on business several times, but never with his family. One of his concerns is if one of his kids gets sick while in Sweden and has to see a doctor. He is not sure if his medical insurance covers while overseas. No one at work seems to know the answer.

Can anyone recommend overseas medical insurance?

Also, will his U.S. drivers license be valid in Sweden? Will he need an international drivers license?

I appreciate your help.
