[Idyllchat] Medical Insurance overseas

Correct Russ. But--in our case, and likely some other folks, my secondary insurance (Aetna) requires the Medicare "denial". Medicare will transmit this electronically to Aetna which triggers the Aetna payment. Whew! Got to be on top of this stuff. Cheers. Joan.

  Joan,

I don't believe Medicare covers any expenses outside the country, do they?

Hi Bill: Our insurer, Aetna has always confirmed that all expenses will be paid according to plan as long as receipts are submitted with the claims (when your return). Likewise Medicare, but in your son's case, they are not age-eligible for that grand plan. Always good to confirm with carrier each trip. Cheers. Joan.

My nephew will be in Sweden for a month and a half this summer as part of a work exchange program with his company. He will be bringing his wife and two boys with him. The trip will be paid by his company. He has traveled overseas on business several times, but never with his family. One of his concerns is if one of his kids gets sick while in Sweden and has to see a doctor. He is not sure if his medical insurance covers while overseas. No one at work seems to know the answer.

Can anyone recommend overseas medical insurance?

Also, will his U.S. drivers license be valid in Sweden? Will he need an international drivers license?

      I appreciate your help.
