Mary,
For those of you that subscribe to the Digest form of Idyllchat,
rather than message-by-message (as, I think, most do), you have to
remember two things when responding:
Firstly, unless you change it, the Subject of the email will read, as
yours does, "RE: IdyllChat Digest, Vol 11, Issue 11". In the
single-message form it would be the subject of the message to which
you are responding. So, in the Digest case, no one knows what you are
responding about.
Secondly, the ENTIRE Digest issue gets copied into your response
making it more or less impossible to identify where your actual
response is. I never did find it in your last post.
Even in the single-message form it is often good etiquette to
(highlight with the mouse and) cut out all but the relevant portion
of the message to which you are responding (and particularly all the
links at the bottom), unless the prior message is fairly short. If
you don't cut out the links they multiply like rabbits with every
subsequent response.
Please don't take this as scolding because it is most certainly not
meant that way. Often people don't realize what happens when you
click Reply. For those of us who deal with 400-500 messages a day in
professional forums, doing these things is almost instinctive now,
but it isn't for a lot of folks.
What you have to say is important. Just make sure folks can find it.
Happy weekend to all.
Jerry
