A friend of mine spent a year in Paris recently, and he offers the
following recommendations:

Quartier du marais (near the Georges Pompidou art center)
This is supposed to be an area with art and design shops, lots of
"cultural richness" and a gay-friendly part of town.

The other suggestionis the website www.paris-gay.com which lists
everything you could ask for, including bars & cafes. The direct link
to the English version is
http://www.paris-gay.com/indexgb.php

I found the cafes and bars under "listings".

I hope this info helps!
