If there has not yet been a translation of the extraordinary Etruscan
banquet (which I hadn't known about, but would love to experience!), here is
what a struggling but dedicated student of Italian can come up with:
Figs & thigh of wild pig, eggs Etruscan style with herbs, aromatic olive
oil; (And if you can still eat another bite:)
Etruscan farro soup, pasta with sauce of wild rabbit (hare);
Smoked wild goose;
Lamb--but I can't translate how it is prepared;
"Taurus a la griglia (!)" -- I'm not sure, but I've got an idea, based on
the exclamation point. The word for "bull" is "toro"--perhaps related.
"Griglia" is "grilled." Might this be grilled bull testicles?
Dessert--who knows?
Wine from their ancient vineyard.
Enjoy! (Burp.)
