[Idyllchat] AAA's Cash Card / North Tuscany

Hi Barbara,

First of all congratulations!  I can't think of a lovelier place to spend a honeymoon than in bella Italia.

I am not familiar with the AAA cash advance card so I cannot comment on it.  I am sure you have read all the message about how others use the various credit cards and bank debit cards.  We tend to withdraw cash from ATMs with our debit card and also pay for items with our Capital One credit card.

We are also going on our first Untour, to Northern Tuscany, but we will be ships passing in the night...we arrive to our apartment on Oct. 10, staying until the 24.  We will be staying at the Azzuro apartment.  Which one are you going to?

While there we plan to take an overnight to Le Cinque Terre and have reserved a room at a small hotel in Vernazza.  Other than that we will spend time driving the countryside and visitng small villages.  We have been to the big cities of Florence and Siena in the past so we won't be doing that this time.  

I have been reading the forums on www.slowtrav.com and have found wonderful recommendations for restaurants and off the beaten track places.

We also decided to get the GPS with our rental car after reading comments from other untourists who really appreciated having the device.

  My husband and I are taking our first Untour and first trip to Italy starting Sept 26 in the Pisa area. I've been catching up on weeks worth of Idyllchat entries this week, because our recent wedding pre-empted the delayed honeymoon!  AAA gave me a brochure about their cash advance card for foreign travel, and it looks like it might work. Does anyone have experience using that card instead of VISA or bank cards for cash? I'm also interested in corresponding offline with other travelers who will be in North Tuscany between Sept 26 & October 10... Thanks!
