[Idyllchat] celiac in France

Hi Michael!

My mom has celiac disease and so we've often had to deal with exactly this
situation. Gluten is the same word in French as it is in English. Both my
mother and myself have found restaurants to be very accommodating if you let
them know that you are allergic to gluten. Try and look for the BIO aisle in
grocery stores where a lot of health food is sold. France has lovely corn
crackers (similar to rice crackers here, but thinner and very tasty) that my
mom often buys and eats either alone or as a nice snack with some lovely
French cheese. In pastry stores, try the meringues (always making sure they
haven't added flour, which a good meringue should not have!) and other
sweets made with nuts (they are often the best ones anyway). You might also
want to try *Le Jardin des Pâtes (33 blvd Arago, 13th, M° Gobelins*), which
offers a number of interesting, gluten free pasta dishes.

Have fun!

Best,

Lotta
