The NY Times has a good article on what to do and see in Vancouver in

For those of you who have not been to what I consider one of (if not 
the) most beautiful cities in North America, I recommend that you put 
it on your "must see" list. I was fortunate to have been able to work 
there back in the '80s for awhile and just fell in love with the 
pace, beauty and ambiance of the city. Perhaps doubly fortunate in 
that I got to live in West Van, as they refer to it, so I travelled 
twice each day through Stanley Park and over the LIon's Gate Bridge. 
Victoria, at the tip of Vancouver Island, is another neat city (big 
small town loaded with gorgeous gardens).
