we have been to both, and loved both.  You are really going to have a hard decision.  I can tell you that although we had a week in Paris in 2000 , I would dearly love to do a Paris untour.  We did not use a car in Paris at all, nor should you!! :))  We did have a car in Ireland, and we were there for a week.  You just can't see all you want to in one week.  we B&B'd there and were 3 days in La Hinch on the west coast, then 2 days in Kenmare then 1 in waterford and back to Dublin.  We stayed near the airport in a place called Sutton, where one could walk 2 blocks to the train, which ran frequently into downtown dublin. so no driving in dublin.  If you have any Irish ancestry, Ireland is the greatest!  
    see, you have to plan two trips~!  Have fun!
