[Idyllchat] Paris question

I agree whole heartedly with this advice and that of the others who
have replied. These all very much represent our experience in
traveling in France. Actually, the same advice holds for any other
non English speaking European countries.
One additional bit of advice given us by our daughter when she was
living and working in Paris: even if a person acknowledges that they
can speak English, be careful at first with your own speaking. She
pointed out that many Americans will launch off speaking English just
like they would at home and many French people, even though they can
speak quite a bit of English, cannot follow at the conversational
speed that we are used to using. Any of us who have attempted to
learn another language can certainly sympathize with that problem
when the shoe is on the other foot!
