Linda,

I agree with Jerry's advice though I have to
admit to not having traveled in Ireland. Maybe
someday.

Twice my wife and I have visited Paris. The
first time was a bit overwhelming, and we were
staying with a French family on the outskirts
(that's a story unto itself). The second time we
spent a week just north of city center, staying
in two very modest but acceptable hotels.
Getting about the city on the bus and the Métro
was remarkably easy. If one enjoys museums and
history, Paris offers a bit of everything. Musée
d'Orsay and Musée Picasso are great places to
spend time and nurture the soul. Ste Chapelle is
truly wonderful; its windows were exhilarating.
St. Denis, on the northern outskirts, is
generally taken as the original gothic church.
The organ at Notre Dame is thunderous, and its
sounds swallowed me up. Sacré Coeur is a
striking landmark, and the area offers a
wonderful vista of the city. And one could go on
and on.

Ireland has much to offer, and it was home to
some of my ancestors. But the ease of getting
around in Paris is hard to beat.

Good travels, Art
