Hi Alex: Your son will have absolutely no problems in the Heartland. More "vegs" there than in Berkeley (that is a West Coast joke). In the cafeteria style restaurants, Coop and Migros Restaurants, etc.there are hot vegetable sections with over 10 vegetable choices. There are always vegetarian pasta choices in that section as well.. Then there is the salad bar section--more choices. It is terrific. The only difference is the veggies (and most food) have more salt than we (personally) use. I have also observed vegetarian sections in menus at other restaurants as well He may not wish to return to US! Happy planning! Joan.

Subject: [Idyllchat] Vegetarian Options in Swiss Heartland?
I am booking our first Untour for next summer in the Heartland. One of my sons, age 15, is a vegetarian. He does eat eggs and dairy (ovo-lacto), but absolutely no meat, poultry, or seafood. Other than the delightful cheeses, will there be real options for him when dining out?
I have read much on the list archives - what a wonderful resource this list is! But I've yet to see this question... :)
Thanks,
Alexandra
