[Idyllchat] TSA luggage locks

What had been everyone's experience with the so called "TSA Approved"
luggage locks?

For the past 15+ years we have always been carry on luggage
travelers. The recent TSA rules have made that increasingly difficult
and we have resorted to checking our bag the last couple of trips. We
have used "one time" disposable locks for these recent trips since
many reports from a few years ago about the "TSA Approved" locks
seemed to be a real mixed bag. i.e. many TSA approved locks simply
being cut open anyway instead of properly opened.

Has the use of these "approved" locks been acceptable? I realize the
actual security of any of the small luggage padlocks is not good and
only stops the casual thief so that is not the issue.
