I didn't mean to imply in any way that I have
encountered anti-Americanism in Provence, au
contraire. I just suggested that might be a reason for
Americans shying away from France.

As for the Roussillon omission from Untours....I know
that most comanies are shortening the duration of
their trips. There is only one hotel in Roussillon.
The proprietor absolutely refused to give a cup of hot
water to one of the members of our group (Sept. 2004).
She was very sick with a G.I. illness and could only
drink tea. People begged the proprietor to just give
her the cup of water, the tables were already set for
breakfast and he just said "Non." I have always
thought I'd go back on that Untours trip again despite
his action (or lack thereof). But, if Untours decided
to eliminate one night I could see that man's refusal
as a reason they would not use his hotel again.
