We haven't been in France for 7 or 8 years now. But, we have friends
and relatives who have. Their collective experiences have been that
they did not encounter any anti-American attitudes. Anti-American
government actions, yes. But, they seem to very much separate those
feelings from feelings about us Americans as people. In fact one
friend encountered some French locals who asked "Why do you Americans
hate us so much?". That was back when the anti-French rhetoric was
running so rampant in our country.
