Betty,
    Ditto what Russ Crum has said.  Take some cash and plan to use ATMs, which are virtually everywhere in Switzerland.  We haven't bothered with travelers checks for at least 10 years and have had no problems.
    As far as converters are concerned, what are you wanting to convert?  All Untours apartments have hairdryers and coffeepots.  Most have TVs and microwaves.  
    We haven't taken a converter for years.  However, if you are going to a hotel either before or after your stay in your Untours apartment, you *may* need a converter (???)  Again, we have had no need for one for years.
