Second Bob Miller and Bill Kover's recommendations. You will not have a problem with the "low road", as Bill describes. Here is a description of the walk: From the station one block to the Brunigstrasse. You will pass the Bahnhof restaurant and biergarten, a beautiful rose garden, stationery and photo store. Crossing Brunigstrasse, you can visit the post office, kiosk, bank, and take the main street up past the apoteke, grocery store and best bakery/cafe in the heartland, Cafe zum Stein, take the little path around the back and up the gradual low road to the Greutert compound. Along the way are friendly folk, well-kept gardens and nifty, covered barbecue shelters--they bbq, rain or shine. You will discover a shorter, direct route by crossing Brunigstrasse, taking a left past the gas station, through a parking area and catch the low road there. Take a rest in the lower patio before you climb the few stairs to the chalet. The Greuterts and visitors are often in the garden and a refreshing drink is shared.
My husband goes up and down the hill daily at 6:30 am to the back door of the bakery to get his favorite fresh rolls, and if I am good he gets me a gipfeli (croissant) which has just left the oven! If you are staying from mid-May to mid-June you may place an order with him!
As long as you are walkers, you will not have a problem, and will be staying with a very special family, as you have heard. By the end of your stay, you will have your mountain goat badge! Happy planning. Joan.

If anyone has stayed at Studio Albert, please advise me of the level of difficulty in walking to the train station. I live in Florida where it is very flat, although I walk a lot, I was told that the access from the apt. is steep. I am not quite sure what this means. A description would help.
Thank you, Ginny in Florida
