Jerry,  We stayed at Hotel Achilleas which is (it was in 2005) in the Greece Untour booklet.  Made reservations through HotelClub.com and everything was good.  Comfortable room, small but nice, good breakfast.  Idyll rep will probably warn you about taxi service.  We used the bus from Nafplio to Athens on departure.  Then taxi to hotel.  We got in a taxi and I asked the driver to turn on the meter;  he refused so we got out and used another taxi which did use the meter.  The second driver really didn't know where the hotel was until he picked up another fare and had her study his map book.  We got to the hotel with no further problem and the meter fare was much less that the "no meter" driver was charging.
Athens is worth more than a day if you can manage it.  In addition to the sights in the city we took the train to Pieris (sp?), the port city for Athens.  From there we got a boat to the closest island.  Nice one day trip.
