Marcia:
I can still remember slowly cruising down the Seine to the sound of harp music with the Eiffel Tower in the background. The harpist came around and asked what we would want her to play. I picked "I left my Heart in San Francisco" (San Francisco was where I made the decision to propose marriage). We managed to drink two bottles of wine. They took a photo of us, which we purchased. Boy did we look happy!
What time of year were you there? Did you make the Bateaux Mouches reservations before leaving the States or after you arrived in Paris?

I took the Bateaux Mouches trip in 2002 and it was absolutely fabulous. It is pricey. However, the food and music, not to mention the scenery, are wonderful. It was $125 (not Euros) per person then - $162 is steep. You could really have a smashing dinner at a top restaurant for that. Depends on what you want to do most.

My wife and I intend to sign up for the Paris Untour in Spring of 2008. The last time we were in Paris was in 1973, but for only two days.
One of the highlights of that trip was a romantic dinner cruise on the Bateaux Mouches. Total cost of the dinner cruise in 1973 was $40,
including two bottles of wine. According to the Rick Steves' book, "Paris 2007", the current rate for the Bateaux Mouches is 125 Euros ($162) per person. That's a bit steep. But we feel that if we are going to make one big splurge during the trip, Bateaux Mouches would be our choice. Rick Steves listed the website, www.bateauxmouches.com. However, that site is strictly in French. If possible we would like to make reservations for the dinner cruise prior to leaving the States. Can anyone suggest an alternate "English site" that could be used to make reservations online?
Also if anyone has taken a recent Bateaux Mouches dinner cruise, we would be interested in hearing about your experience.
Thank you,
