Vance: How lucky you are!
By all means visit the excellent Caen Memorial Museum
(http://www.memorial-caen.fr/portail_gb/hp/hp.asp), just a few miles to
the east of Bayeux. The Arromanches beach area is always interesting,
and the big American cemetery is near that area. We actually stayed at
a Chateau B&B on the edge of town and really enjoyed that experience.
Beautiful room and nice breakfast buffet.
At the time we were there four years ago it was less than $100/day, but
I notice it is now a little more, but still not a bad price for a
beautiful chateau. For a delicious meal you might want to try the
dining room at the Lion d'Or hotel in the middle of town. Of course you
will have to see the Bayeux tapestry!
The village of Honfleur is not too far away and a beautiful little seaport.
