Yes, yes, yes, we agree with what Joan recommends. By all means, don't overplan; take time to sit and enjoy where you are.
We've had a number of visits to both the Heartland and Ticino, and find that we never have enough time in either region. Our first Untours, over ten years ago, were to the Heartland, and it is still at the top of our list. And Ticino certainly deserves consideration for a future Untour.

Hi Betty: Congratulations on planning your first Untour. Sachseln is our favorite Untour destination We do take a day trip (on a four week Untour) to the Ticino on occasion, but it's a very long day, early 6am start, and some important connections to make it worthwhile. If you must, overnight would be better.

I know it may be tempting to see a bit of the Ticino. However, you have so much to see in the Heartland, you will not even begin to see all there is to see. If you are going for two weeks, I would recommend concentrating on one of the most beautiful areas in the world. Four weeks--maybe a trip, but two weeks fly by, and do consider the arrival and departure days in the two week period.

Just this week we received our Dream Book and Hiking and Biking Guide for our May/June trip. I read them from cover to cover and have made a list of trips that we have yet to take--not to mention the walks and hikes that have not been done----after seven Untours in the Heartland. Then there is the Matterhorn, which we have yet to visit. We keep leaving it for another trip--that way we must return! There are also magnificent walks and trips in the Heartland that we will repeat

My recommendation is not to over-plan long distance trips on your first Untour, but to enjoy the day to day life, and many outstanding trips in this exquisite region. Any specific questions, just ask. Cheers. Joan.

We are taking the Swiss Heartland tour...the apartment is in Sachsein. Need to know how far it is to Ticino. Is it a day trip (there and back with some sightseeing and shopping) , or should we spend the night there?
    Thanks, Betty
