A few years ago, many Untourists who had stayed in Montalcino enjoyed
reading the book, "Vanilla Beans and Brodo", about a woman who lived there.

There is a new book out that you also might enjoy..."A Vineyard in Tuscany"
by Ferenc Mate.
The Mates bought and renovated a friary in Montalcino and started a well
respected winery on the property; the book is about their "adventures" in
doing this.
