As Joan correctly surmised, we were on the Tuscany South Untours, but have not gone to Sicily (actually, I was in Sicily many years ago while attending school in Florence, but I doubt my experiences of 35 years ago have much relevance to today's Sicily...)
My wife and two teenaged daughters and I were in Nauplia over Christmas/New Year's of 2006. We had an absolutely wonderful experience there,?even with the cold that normally causes our native Floridian souls to?struggle. That was my fourth trip to Greece, my wife's second, but the first for our girls. They loved Nauplia and never tired of walking its streets. Our apartment, the Dmitri 2, was perfect for us. We did the usual trips: Mycenae, Tiryns, Mystras, Olympia, Hydra, Epidaurus, Monemvassia Acrocorinth, as? well as our share of "off into the wild blue yonder" sidetrips and detours (I have a fatal love of sideroads and obscure sites...). The girls were always at least polite and patient with me even if they weren't always as enthralled as I was. We also spent a couple nights in Athens after leaving Nauplia, and that was special with the holiday crowds in Syntagma Square.
Although the weather was not conducive to beachgoing, the tradeoff of having no crowds at the important sites certainly outweighed that in our minds. We were the only guests staying in the medieval village of Monemvassia; the restaurant opened for us for breakfast and then closed down after we finished...We wandered through Olympia with no one else in sight. Very nice. So, anyway, we would highly recommend the Greece Untours...

Hi Ann:? Assume (or not) you have been to the trip logs site?? There are a number for Greece, but none for Sicily.? Might get some ideas there.? http://www.untours.com/triplogs.html? Also, go to www.untourscafe.com?where you will find many interesting blogs and dazzling photos.? Perhaps you can find a member who has been to Sicily to get some ideas.? Happy planning.? Joan.???
