[Idyllchat] Swiss coffee makers

We have also had the Senseo for a couple of years and I bought it because of an almost identical discussion here on Idyll chat. Although we also use a traditional coffee maker when time allows, the Senseo is quick and gives the frothy (but without milk) layer much like that on many a cup in Europe. Senseo has also added more and more kinds of "pods" - cappuccinos, sumatra, flavoured coffees, even teas. My husband is a coffee nut - but wants no flavours - just straight coffee - freshly roasted when possible and then ground here at home - but he's happy with the Senseo. I used to have to drive to a town 40 miles away (to Target) to get the pods, but now Wal-Mart carries them. (I still drive the 40 miles to get his freshly roasted coffee beans!)

We purchased one of the SENSEO coffeemakers a couple of years ago and it is great. Although you can only make 1 or 2 cups at a time , it is very similar to European coffee with a layer of foam on top. It uses pods that come in bags of 18 for $3.50 to $3.98 a bag. I purchased ours at Walmart for $50 to $60, but I have seen them at Costco. I think you would be quite happy with it.

A few years ago we went on a Swiss Heartland Untour and my husband loved the coffee. It seems to be made in a bit different coffee machine than the ones we have there - a bit foamy at the top. He mentioned looking for one of these as a Christmas present to himself and I suggested putting this out to the IdyllChat group and seeing what suggestions people have. Anyone have a Swiss style coffee machine they'd recommend?

    Thanks!
