Yes, one on of our trips to Switzerland, I was able to get two hiking sticks in a 3" diameter, 36" long mailing tube available from the Post Office. Hiking sticks vary in size, but there is a fair chance such a tube will handle your needs.. Of course, the tube must be checked. You can't carry it into the cabin.

Subject: [Idyllchat] Hiking Sticks
Looking for your help - we're packing for our trip to Heartland and Alsace, and have switched to smaller luggage this year. Consequently, our hiking sticks no longer fit, and I'm looking for an option to get the sticks checked through. Has anyone used something like a cardboard tube to pack the hiking sticks? Or is there something available similar to the bags you see people using for sending skiis in checked luggage?
Thanks for any suggestions you may have.
Ken and Jan Knoll
