As far as restaurants in Nafplio, we liked Taverna Christoferos.  And
Zorba's was just down the street from our apartment.  

 

You should not have any problems with the language.  Nonetheless, being
familiar with a few of the polite phrases helps, e.g., efharisto (thank
you), parakalo (you're welcome), etc.

 

We don't carry much cash.  But we do locate an ATM as soon as we arrive.

Hi Bob,

 

Having recieved your email to Betty about the cruise ships, I was wondering
about your experience in Nafplio and Athens.  My husband and I are leaving
for Greece on Sept. 11.   We would appreciate any hints about places you
really enjoyed, things we shouldn't miss, and any restaurants you liked. Did
you have any problems with the language?  I understand many places do not
take charge cards, so is it important to carry a lot of cash?  Thanks for
your help.

We had a wonderful time on an Untour in Nafplio.  We did spend a few days in
Athens after the Untour and one of those days we went on a day trip to the
closest island.  Regretfully, we did not take the time for a more extended
cruise as you are planning.  Maybe next time.
