[Idyllchat] Credit cards in England

I have never had a problem using my Visa or Mastercard credit cards in England, but I always call the credit card companies before I go to let them know my travel plans so they will not put a freeze on the cards when they see a charge from Europe trying to go through.
As for ATM cards, my favorite credit union ATM card has invalidated use of its ATM cards in the UK (and many other countries) because of many problems with fraud. Apparently many of their credit union members have had their numbers stolen in the UK. I get around this by holding membership in a second credit union which has a much looser approach (which is great for getting cash but not so great in terms of protection for me). Long story short, I have never had a problem with fraudulent use of my ATM card which I've used in England. I, too, am headed for two weeks in England beginning Sep 20 (with Home At First) and will plan on using my ATM card with no problems (hopefully). But it points up the necessity of traveling with more than one card if you plan on getting your cash through ATMs.
Hope this helps.
