Well, it sounds like the service in Serbia was not up to par. There may be
nothing wrong with the phone. If you bought the phone from mobal.com, there
is no reason to send it back. As a matter of fact, if you are a AT&T or
T-Mobile customer for your regular cell service, you can use the phone in
the US to see if it was the phone or the service. The "European-capable"
phones are unlocked GSM phones. The ones sold by Mobal are quad-band, so
they work in the US. If you are an AT&T or T-Mobile customer, you can test
the phone for free by taking the SIM card out of your US cell phone and
stick it in your Mobal phone. It should work. I recently bought an unlocked
Treo680 because I didn't want Cingular's (AT&T) data plan. I just pulled the
SIM card out of my old phone, stuck it in my new phone, and I was good to
go.

That said, once you have a GSM phone that works in Europe, you have many
options available to you. You can get an international plan from one of the
American GSM providers. You can get a pre-paid SIM card for the country
you'll be going to. Or there are other "global" providers that you can
purchase a SIM card from.
