[Idyllchat] Rome but not Rome

Looking for suggestions on places to stay just outside of but with easy reach of Rome.  Have been to Frascati, (fun..almost no Americans), and have seen Ostia (pompeii without the crowds), but not stayed there...

Can anyone recommend a good 3-star in Tivoli?  Looking to satisfy a Roman history buff without necessarily going in to the city.  Any ideas?
