I agree. If you allow enough time, this can be a very convenient airport for transfer to Italy. We fly from the west coast and try to avoid an east coast transfer. Our best connections have been through CDG to Firenze. Less travel time than a NYor Washington transfer. Last year we traveled through Munich and that airport warrants extra time also.
When our son lived in Belgium we used CDG and transfered to the TGV for a quick ride into Brussels.

Hi Donna,
You want something positive so the good news is we've all gotten out alive! Many of us more than once. Also, two years ago the ticket agent in Dallas kept our luggage receipts so we couldn't get our luggage at CDG and a VERY NICE French gentleman (no--that's not an oxymoron) went to great effort to make calls etc. and managed to get new ones printed for us so we could collect our luggage and be on our way. He was cheerful and polite. That said, I dislike CDG almost as much as everyone else but I've been to worse. Think of it as an adventure even when they're driving you around the airport in that bumpy bus for what seems like an hour. Seriously, you have enough time between flights and it won't be bad at all. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised--especially as you're expecting the worst. Please don't stress about it--all too often we tend to exaggerate what are actually pretty small annoyances and irritations. You'll be fine.

Oh my gosh, after reading all the comments ( all by the way negative ) about changing planes in Paris, I quickly got out my itinerary and checked out where we will be changing planes on the way back from Venice and guess where it will be.....yep, CDG!!!!! I am pretty sure I knew that all along but just didn't give it much thought.
What I really NEED to hear right now is someone ( even one will do ) who had a positive experience there!!!! We will be leaving Venice at 10:05am and arriving at CDG at 11:55am. Then we will be leaving Paris at 2:00pm for Detroit. I am going to try and not stress out at this point ( there's nothing I can do about it anyway, is there? ) We are leaving Venice via Air France and then boarding Northwest for home.
