Joan...far be it from me to seduce you back into the thrall of the grape, but...

The first thing that people notice is that the headaches just don't happen...

Stateside wine sellers insist that the lack of sulfites has nothing to do with it...that it is simply that you are in vacation mode...relaxed and much more physically active.  I wonder.  

I'm not a oenophile by any means, but I do know that most of us Americani don't have the patience to give the red wines a chance to breathe, ...which is why we don't like the taste...all the tannins.  Just give it a few minutes and a couple of swirls and give it a try.

Now...if you like your wee drams...maybe grappa is more to your liking!  An acquired taste, to be sure!

Having observed all the informative messages for several days regarding wine shipments, a little Venice, or not, I have a question to pose.

I have avoided planning a trip to Tuscany or environs for two reasons.  First, we do not drink wine.  (Can you believe we are surrounded by wine country and friends in the business?).   And for those who may be thinking why?  I drank wine until I was around 30, and did not enjoy the taste--or the headaches.  Ignoring peer pressure, I just stopped.  Second, we like to hike and walk. So much of the areas culture is devoted to wine culture, wine drinking, that it feel it may not be the best choice for two weeks.

Know there are others who may have similar tastes.  Are my instincts correct?  Or am I out in left field?  Thanks.  Joan.

P. S.  Love Scotland, and my wee drams!
