[Idyllchat] flying with wine

I have no idea about the regulations regarding transporting wine - I'm
sure you'll get plenty of advice from other Untourists - but I do have a
cautionary tale involving bottles of liquid in checked baggage. On our
first Untour (we've taken five), when we gathered our checked baggage in
Pisa I quickly realized that one bag was distinctly damp, and reeked of
rum - which was not something I'd packed. Evidently a bottle in someone
else's luggage had burst or leaked and my bag was thoroughly soaked. I
spent a good part of our first full day in North Tuscany doing laundry,
because almost all my clothes for the trip were in that bag.
On the way back from that trip we brought along a bottle of Fraticello,
a liqueur made by the brothers at the Certosa di Pisa in Calci, but in
our carry-ons, carefully cushioned. I guess that's no longer possible.
Enjoy -
Sandra
