Nina,
Thanks! After our next trip I will check that out. We decided on our
last couple of trips to use cash when feasible just to avoid the 3%
our credit card company tacks on. We still use the credit card for
larger items, like some train tickets just to avoid depleting the
cash supply so quickly.
As irritating as the credit card fee is and any charge some of the
banks tack on for ATM use, in the big picture of the cost of a three
or four week European trip, those fees aren't really a major factor.
However, one might as well avoid them if it doesn't cause undue
hardship.
