[Idyllchat] Identifying luggage

I stenciled yellow and red stars all over all of our bags a few years ago and it's made a huge difference. People always say "why didn't I think of that!" and I always respond with "just don't paint yellow and red stars." Just takes a few minutes and I used cheap acrylic craft paint that comes in small bottles and it hasn't worn of thru multiple trips. I also think, but this is just in my head, that if I were a crook intent on making off with luggage I'd pick something less visible.

      Found all the good suggestions re baggage labels helpful. Another tip we have found through trial and error is actually marking our bags to make them look different from everyone elses. No colored ribbons, tags, pom-poms, or straps , as they can fall off. We first tried affixing stickers-even with tape, or crazy glue, they also came off. Our daughter suggested painting a design in fingernail polish, but we could never find a shade light enough. for our dark bags. Finally resorted to white enamal paint. You can paint on plain X's , stars , initials, or get as creative as you want. We actually use a modified version of our family crest-paint it fairly large on the top and bottom, and smaller on each end. Believe me, you can spot your bags coming through the carousel (hopefully) in baggage claim way before they reach you-also keeps other people from picking up your bags by mistake, and we have often been able to spot our bags being loaded onto the plane.
 If lost, it gives the lost luggage people (whoever they are), something else to look for. Just a suggestion-it works for us.

Subject: [Idyllchat] I have a Stupid Question

  Now for my silly question;
  What contact information do you put on your luggage tag? I can use my office business card, but it doesn’t strike me as germane. I won’t be taking my cell phone. Has anyone had the misfortune of having luggage lost? What’s the best approach for identifying your luggage?
