[Idyllchat] prepaid phone cards in Italy?

Have never owned a US prepaid phone card, so can't comment on those.
However, we have bought local cards (usually in denominations of 5 or 10
euros) and they work wonderfully for calling home, without the hassle of
access numbers. During our trip to Spain in March my mother took a fall and
injured her back--a 12-euro card allowed me to call her every day for 10
days, as well as calling my daughter daily for updates on what the doctor
had said, etc.
