Dear Bert and Idabelle,

We were in Galas, outside of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, and near Pernes les Fountianes. A lovely apartment with a nice vine-covered patio overlooking a pretty hillside.
Isle-s-l-Sorgue, incidentally, has a great market on the weekends that covers a huge area of the town. In addition to fresh produce, you can buy all manner of locally-made cheeses, olive oil, olives, sausages, flowers, fabrics, clothing, pottery, etc., etc. Oh, and antiques. The town is noted for its many antiques shops. The market is not to be missed.
I think market day was Sunday. Your Provence on-site Untours staff, husband and wife whose names escape me right now, are wonderful and will fill you in on this sort of thing at orientation.
There are excellent, and extensive, Roman ruins at nearby Vaison la Romaine. Worth the drive, we thought. Also, some excellent Roman ruins at Orange.
The Gorges of the Nesque, deep gorges cut into the rock by the Nesque River, offer very interesting scenery and make for a beautiful trip by auto. They are not on the way to or from anywhere, so you have to make this a destination, but you can do this drive easily in less than a half day, and then do something else.
The Pope's Palace in Avignon is worth visiting. We didn't do it this trip, but had visited it on a previous trip.
Paris is our favorite European city. It is a wonderful change of pace and activity from Provence. A beautiful city to walk and enjoy. I would suggest you go for as long a stay in Paris as your time and budget allow. You will only scratch the surface of things to see and do in this magnificent city, anyway.
You are in for a treat.
    Enjoy!

Do you remember which apartment you were in?
Thanks for your information. Anything else you can think of, let us know. Where did you stay in Provence? We are going to be at the Bernal and our friends will be at Alcaraz.

We did it in September, 2003--untoured in Provence for two weeks and then had an Untours apartment in Paris for a week. It worked out perfectly! Flew into Marseille for the Provence portion, took the high-speed train to Paris (about 4-4½ hours, I think), and flew home from Paris. We had all the usual Untours support in Paris that you normally expect on a two-week stay--Idyll even provided a shuttle to the airport from our apartment.

I suggest you give them a call, tell them what you have in mind, and see what they come up with.

Am planning to do the Provence Untour in September 07. Would like to go to Paris after the Untour. Anyone out there done this and should we go for 4 days, 5 days or.....................?
Is there an Untour for a week to Paris?
We have not received a catalog yet for 2007 but we have received the contract for our apartment and the prices for the Provence Untour.
      Thanks,
      Idabelle
