Dear Jayne,
According to my sister, who flew BA through Heathrow this past
Wednesday, they have changed the carry-on checking method. In the
past, they put your bag into a metal cage that was shaped like a
suitcase. Now they have plywood inserts that make them into rigid
boxes. As long as you can maneuver your bag into the box, you should
be ok. Soft sided carry-ons might, therefore, be your best bet. Of
course it all depends on the person checking you in. Sometimes you
get someone friendly, sometimes not. Good Luck!
