While we've been to Rhodes, we were not in Santorini; it wasn't one our 
ports when we cruised the Greek Isles, because of the season.  We found 
Rhodes a delightful island and wouldn't hesitate to return there, however, 
several of our friends have been to both as well as to other 
isles.  They've all raved about Santorini, claiming it to be the most 
beautiful, unusual and picturesque of all.  Based on what I've read and 
heard about it, Santorini would be my choice of the two.  You'll be in good 
company, for it's an acclaimed place for visitors as well as some of the 
well-heeled celebrities from around the globe.  Enjoy!  .....sonny in Virginia

PS: As close as you'll be, I just assume that you'll visit both Athens and 
Istanbul; two spectacular, yet very different, international cities; 
everyone deserves to visit both of them someday.
