We spent 16 days in Turkey several years ago on an Elderhostel Program. It
was a terrific experience although we spent the entire time in the western
area where there are so many archeological sites. Would like to get to the e
astern region one day.

One caveat. Beware of the "turkey trots." Almost everyone on our program
came down with it despite our extreme care in what and where we ate. Take more
Imodium tablets with you than you ever think you may need...just in case. You
might ask your doctor about medications before leaving. Also, be aware that
few Turkish toilets are like ours. Most are holes in the floor and it would
behoove you to carry toilet tissue with you. It seemed to be unknown in Turkish
toilets. Just a pail of water and a dipper in many. Still can't figure out
exactly to use that system correctly!

Other than that, enjoy the country. It is fabulous.
