Thank you. I forgot to mention that we had taken ALL those
precautions with our credit cards. The only way we survived
momentarily was to have back up cards. We had extra euros to get rid
of that day and we were dumb enough to use them that day when the card
failed. The lesson that most people don't realize and we were NOT
prepared for was the fact that you cannot use 800 numbers while in
Europe. We could not reach the Fraud Department until my daughter
posed as me with all my passwords, etc., and got a number we could
contact. We like Capital One for the Frequent Flyer program we have
built up but they cut off our credit for "suspicious activity" about
four times in the 19 months we lived in Spain. Despite many phone
calls and letters notifying them of our travels, it even happened
again after we returned to the states.
