[Idyllchat] Winter in Holland

We went to Leiden in November, and loved it. Even though it lightly rain
with rather gusty winds, and we still have a wonderful time. The people
are gracious, the cafes, coffee houses, etc., all seemed to be quite a cozy
and culture-revealing time to be with the Dutch. Never a day went by that
we let the weather prevent us from going to where we wanted, and I suspect
now that I think back that there were more days without rain than those
with it; it's just that one should be prepare for some wind when the rain
comes, meaning: if you're going to take umbrellas, take the type that
permit wind to escape via the top vs turn inside-out like ours did
often. You know, it was really that wet anyway, probably no more than
Seattle....even those that city gets more than its share of bad
publicity..........and even though the rain there is usually so light that
if you walk along at more than a crawl, you won't get wet.........it just
drys on you. We went to Greece, but right know I'm not positive of when it
was, for it was our first trip abroad, and not via untours. However, we're
ready to return to that magical land; we're also ready to get back to
Holland. See there, you still have a choice, without much help from those
of us who are adventurous and interested in how other cultures deal with
weather.
