I don't know from where in Switzerland you will be leaving from to travel to Munich but I have checked the Swiss rail site and found the following:
Depart Luzern 0810
Arrive Zurich 0856
Depart Zurich 0916
Arrive Munich 13:28
A 20 minute change of trains in Zurich.
Of course if you are leaving from Zurich the trip to Munich would be that much shorter.
I am sure you can buy the tickets from the train conductor on the second train or maybe from your departing station in Switzerland.
If you would be leaving from another location in Switzerland let me know and I will check it out.
Robert

Subject: [Idyllchat] Travel from Switzerland to Munich
We are contemplating a trip to Switzerland. We would like to make a side trip to Germany, specifically Munich. How easy or difficult is it to travel from either area of Switzerland to Munich? How long does it take? Once you are in Germany, do you need to purchase train passes for Germany?
Thanks for any help you can give me.
