You'll find plenty to do in the south of France.  Untours choice of Isle sur 
la Sorgue is a great homebase.  We decided not to drive to Nice, but parked 
at the train station in Isle sl Sorgue, and spent a couple of nights in 
Nice.  There are plenty of reasonably-priced hotels there.  Check out what 
Rick Steves suggests.  He hasn't steered us wrong yet in the hotel recs. 
Plenty to do.  Lots of museums in Nice, the Old Town Nice is great as well. 
We really wanted to see Monaco, but didn't make the time for it.
