Jean,
We just got back from a late June Untours trip to the Swiss Heartland.
The flowers were blooming profusely then.
I agree with Holly. May is too early for the most beautiful hikes to open to the public, since they are still covered in snow at the higher elevations, so those cable cars won't be running until late June. One of my favorite hikes, from Planplatten to Bahmereghorn was closed all through June.
The trains stop at most of the villages between Interlaken and Luzern.
I couldn't wear shorts in the morning in late June there, being from Houston and used to a hot climate, but some Untours people from the northeastern U.S. wore nothing but...even to the glaciers! Our temperatures in late June in Switz. were what felt like mid 50's Fahrenheit in the morning, up to upper 70's in the afternoon. Some people wore pants that unzip to become shorts, and would stop on the hiking trail about 11:30 to convert.
I think the Swiss Heartland is the most beautiful place in the world. Enjoy your trip!

You better plan for June. Some cable cars won't be running till the end of June but we've loved the first two weeks of June before the crowds arrive.

We want to go when flowers are in bloom, cable cars are running and the temp is warm enough for tshirts and shorts, basically no real heavy clothes!! I'm not understanding the trains yet. It says the train runs to Interlachen and Luzern...does it stop at other villages in between? We have not travelled in Europe before so I'm new at this. Seems like Untours is the way to go versus setting it all up ourselves. Any help/comments are appreciated. Thanks so much. Also, seems like Gasser-Gasser and Gasser Ettlin are 2 top chalet choices for us. Has anyone stayed in these or have a better idea?
