Don't know where you hope to go or what it is you want to see in Italy. =
Jane and I and friends Tony and Deni did a 2-week Untour in Venice =
followed by another week in Rome at the Lancelot Hotel, all arranged =
through Untours. We had an outstanding time.
I *highly* recommend Venice for a relaxing Untour. That's right, =
relaxing, in a city that is a tourist magnet. Once you get out of St. =
Mark's Square and/or out of the shadow of the Rialto Bridge, Venice is a =
very quaint, picturesque city.
The big plus is: No driving; Venice is all water buses and walking.
Rome is also a great city. Much more hectic than Venice, but a =
lovely place to visit, especially if you enjoy antiquities.
We have not driven in Italy, but have in Provence and Spain on =
Untours. I much prefer the non-driving Untours to the ones where we =
have had to drive.
Tony and Deni did the Tuscany Untour with another couple 5(?) years =
ago and he said they hated the driving, but loved the region. I felt =
the same about Provence and Spain.
Please let me know if I can be of further help.

Dear idylltourists, We are notg particularly experienced travellers =
(England, France, Greece) and are initmidated by the thought of driving =
around northern Italy. We are interested in art particularly and wnat =
to visit the usual art destinations for tourists plus some that are off =
the beaten tour track--e.g. Piero's "Legend" in Arezzo. =20
Our question is this: Has anyone combined a "regular" escourted =
tour, say of Tuscany and perhaps Venice, with an Untour experience of, =
say, five days? Is the driving in Italy difficult? Is a plan like =
this one practical? Does anyone know of flexible tour plans that might =
fit our wishes?
Any and all advice will be much appreciated.
