One year we took the recipe and the makings for a Southern pecan pie. =
The only trouble was that we forgot the pecans! Had a devil of a time =
finding pecans in Switzerland but finally did.

My 2 cents. Always take a hand-made items. This year was hand =
quilted "chicken and chick pin cushions". Thought perhaps Lilo, the =
baroness at the castle, would prefer to give this humble item to Frau =
Schmidt, the cook/handyfrau. No way--she just adored them. Ciggies and =
whiskey!??! Whew! Cheers. Joan.=20
P. S. Though, on a very cold, stormy, evening in late May at the =
Castle--a wee dram might have tasted very good!

I'll add my two cents worth. We have a T.J. Max in Fort Collins, and =
always check their blank
note cards as the quality of them is generally good. One time I =
found "Van Gogh's bouquets", 20
cards and envelopes in a nice box. The size was 4 3/4 by 6 3/4. I =
get several of the same
if they have them and keep them for hostess gifts. The landlady in =
Switzerland just loved them,
as she loved Van Gogh. Joyce Bruxvoort----- Original Message -----=20

Ha, I was about to say that there may be some on here who would go =
purchase a small apt just to rent to untourists if we begin handing out =
gifts like that. Then again, perhaps that's exactly what some of them =
would like......if you can know which ones. I don't smoke, but I =
noticed that most Europeans do, and I don't drink bourbon (scotch for =
me), but I did note that bourbon over there is very expensive, sort of =
like scotch is here. Hey, do what works. Of course, if you take them =
only to learn that your landlord doesn't use either, then you can return =
with them, but that'll then cause you to lose your own 1 liter that =
customs would allow you to return with of something that you want from =
over there. Ha, I can see where this may become a fun idyll-chat piece, =
perhaps one of the best! It still may be a very good idea. Professions =
who teach "creativity" will tell you that if you want a good answer for =
something to just brain storm "what would I never do/give/say/whatever, =
with a bunch of people, and afterwards, it's likely that you'll find =
the answer within that list. So yours should be considered, based on =
that. I do hope that you're a good sport. ..sonny of Virginia
