I would follow my Swiss landlady's advice. "Always have a spare  
train". Have a later train to take in case you are it are delayed. If  
the 0653 is the first train out of Kandersteg that gets you to the  
airport, then stay the night in ZRH. If there is an earlier train,  
take that one. Then you will have the 0653 as a backup.
