Hi: Ken had a great idea. We need a few topics for those who are looking for messages. Someone who had just visited my Kodak gallery photos a few months ago jasked me about the Castle Untour. Aside from the obvious, living in a unique castle, warm, hospitable hosts, access to the Romantic Road and wine destinations, and being within eating distance to Nurrnberg sausages and best sauerkraut ever--my mouth is watering, there is one really important fact. The cost of living in that area is low. We enjoyed our meals out, and found a fish restaurant (locally popular) in nearby Bechhofen that had many varieties of fresh fish. Sammethbrau in Wiedenbach was good. The sauerbraten at the Alte Vogtel in Wolframs Eschenbach is divine--still working off the dumplings. Very locally, the Gasthaus Krone has a very good cooks--and tries to accomodate non-smokers. The evening meals were about 40% less than we pay in the SF Bay Area. Can't comment on the wine, as we are beer drinkers--enjoying all the local brews. The bargains extend to the local markets, where employees take very good care of the Castle visitors, and especially those who are metrically challenged at the cheese, meat and deli counter!

So, for a bit of a $$$ break, perhaps the Castle is your cup of tea--or in this case brew. Happy holidays fellow Untourists (aka Idllyers). Joan.
